Herbicide Damage: Fluazifop

Biology

Fluazifop (fluazifop-p-butyl) is an herbicide used for control of annual and perennial grasses (except for annual bluegrass and fine fescues). It interferes with lipid (fatty acid) synthesis. This herbicide is taken into the plant through the foliage and translocated via the phloem, inhibiting new growth. Symptoms on grasses appear first on newly emerging leaves. Damage may take up to 7-14 days to be noticeable. Most broadleaf plants are tolerant of this herbicide, though injury to certain types of junipers may occur. Damage to junipers appears as necrosis (death) of the scale-like leaves.
