Biology

Overwatering or poor drainage (wet soil) can cause the death of plant tissue from the ends of branches to the entire plant. Symptoms often initially appear as wilting, with plants appearing to suffer from drought. Lack of drainage or overwatering can be a major problem in many new and older landscapes because of highly disturbed and severely compacted soils.

Management Options

Use Integrated Pest Management (IPM) for successful plant problem management.

Non-chemical Management

Select non-chemical management options as your first choice!

  • Irrigate properly (check soil moisture before watering).
  • Improve drainage in wet areas.
  • Renovate severely compacted planting areas.
